Where the two techniques agree
Both begin identically: healthy follicular units are extracted one by one from the donor area with a micro-punch, leaving no linear scar. Both are performed under local anesthetic, and both rely on the same fundamentals — graft health, angle, direction, and density.
Where they differ
In classic FUE, the surgeon first creates recipient sites, then places grafts into them. In DHI, a spring-loaded implanter pen creates the site and places the graft in one motion, giving the surgeon direct control of depth and angle at the moment of placement, and shortening the time grafts spend outside the body.
